Are You Ready For Lead Trusts? – This session will explore various issues regarding Charitable Lead Trusts and prepare you for identifying potential prospects, initiating conversations, and challenges in seeing Lead Trusts come to fruition. Jonathan Gudema, Esq, the managing editor of the Planned Giving Blog and founder of Planned Giving Advisors, LLC, will demystify these elusive yet highly lucrative giving options with an emphasis on practical applications. The webinar is designed for all levels of fundraisers.
Planned Giving Matching Gift Campaigns – How do you take your sleepy planned giving program to another level? – The answer might be a matching gift campaign. Guest presenter, Anne DeMesa from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, generated income for both the endowment and the annual fund simultaneously. The “legacy challenge” concept can be implemented by any other non-profit. Through the program, Anne and her team were able bring in a significant number of new legacy society members, over $800,000 in challenger cash and a corresponding $8M in planned gift commitments (& they’re not done yet… the program will be running through their centennial season in 2022!) Anne will describe the process she went through, the challenges and successes, and show how you might implement your own matching gift campaigns to build your planned giving program.
Thinking About Accepting Art? – Guest presenter, Anat Becker from Saint Joseph’s University, will present on the various opportunities, challenges and even serious pitfalls of having an active art acceptance program. She will explore the benefits of donating art and other collectibles to charity, and the process by which the donor can claim a charitable deduction. We will consider the benefits to the donor: an immediate income tax deduction, avoidance of the tax on capital gains on appreciated assets, an estate and gift tax deduction, and the creation of a lasting legacy. The session will also cover the related use rule, the qualified appraisal requirement and IRS Form 8283.
