Am I totally wrong

or is this country living in denial.

man-head-in-sand18% of today’s Florida population is 65 or older.  By far the largest % with only a few other states just over 15%.  No surprise.

Over the next 10 years – THE ENTIRE U.S. PERCENTAGE OF 65+ WILL EXCEED TODAY’S FLORIDA.

By 2025, 33 states will have 65+% over today’s Florida.  At least 15 states, including Florida, will have 65+%’s of over 20%.  Florida’s will reach 25%.

I focus on these projections (from the U.S. Census Bureau) because the impact on fundraising is going to be staggering – and not in a good way if you don’t get your planned giving programs in order.

I am just wondering about the rest of the country.  Other industries.  Health care infrastructure.  Will there be enough of a workforce?  We are looking at 20% or more of this country in their retirement years.

The message is clear and simple for nonprofit organizations:  it is time to invest in capturing planned gifts from your baby boomer supporters before its too late.
