What is sad is that her charitable intentions may not be honored if the family uses this and other ways to challenge her estate plan. Of course, there is the not-so-dissimilar saga of the Astor estate, including criminal convictions and corrupt, inept advisors. As donors keep telling me, getting old is not fun; and adding dementia into the mix simply makes things worse with “trusted advisors” like these characters out there.
